"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two." -St. Augustine

Reading up albert einstein quotes now..
here's a few: "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." "Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value" "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding." "Human knowledge and skills alone cannot lead humanity to a happy and dignified life. Humanity has every reason to place the proclaimers of high moral standards and values above the discoverers of objective truth."
Worth a thought..

I've come to a conclusion that whenever i watch tv/movies, i tend to read subtitles instead of listening to what they say. If it's a chinese show, i read the english subs; if it's a english show, i read the chinese subs.. Haha! funny eh? :) Well, i'm now in the process of training myself to listen more than read...
More importantly, i think it's highly impt that as leaders, we got to learn to be great listeners. There's a great difference between listening and hearing.. Many people are great at hearing stuff... but not listeners... Notice, your parents can nag at you or some people just talk at you... it doesn't mean that you don't hear what they're saying, but you're just not listening.
Leaders, you can't just hear your sheep when they're down.. You gotta listen... listen to their hearts as they speak..
Definition of Hear = to perceive by the ear (whereby, perceive = to become aware of, know, or identify by means of the senses) Definition of Listen = to give attention with the ear; attend closely for the purpose of hearing; give ear
There is a clear difference between the 2...
Check out what God says... "But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil" - Pro 1:33 "Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors." - Pro 8:34 "Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD." - Psa 34:11
So, are you guys just stuck at the level of just hearing God? I don't wanna just hear Him, I wanna LISTEN to Him..
I guess everyone's been caught in the Michael Jackson wave, following his death.. It's so funny, yet devastating, that people are reminded about his influence and talent only after he's dead.. He was once the King of Pop, but he died as a "strange man" living in a rented apartment.. All of a sudden, the media was no longer labelling him that "eccentric" man that they were accustomed to him but he was restored as the King of Pop. Hmm...
Well, it's strange that human beings seem to be like that.. Wasn't it the same when Jesus was around? He was the King of kings, but yet few received him and loved him... people were ridiculing him and torturing him..
We may never see another King of Pop, nor will the King of Kings physically be around us.. But we certainly can cherish and love the Greatness that we are a part of - our pastors! Pst How & Pst Lia are simply amazing.. Sat down and met Psts today to plan for this weekend's service... Pst How is the best event planner of all, he thinks of all possible scenarios and goes into the smallest details to ensure excellence and perfection! Pst Lia, on the other hand, always seems to be able to spot the errors that we all miss out.. Words of wisdom that will unlock the mysteries and problems we face.. Countless examples i can give. but nonetheless, We are living in the midst of greatness.. Let's cherish them RIGHT NOW and love them! :)
I love my Psts & Leaders!! :)

have not been blogging but i felt inspired to blog after so many amazing things that's been happening!! Too much things to twitter about!
gotta tell u guys how amazing Shuyi and her cg (d8) is! :) they've just been exploding with love... well, they have Yvonne who is like the goddess of love! She draws/designs the MOST AMAZING birthday cards!! d8 doesn't need to buy birthday cards, Yvonne designs personalized cards for EACH and EVERY SINGLE person!! But more than that, she has now reproduced 2 little followers - Si Hui & Wan Chin who have taken over the cards "business" and designing JUST AS AMAZING CARDS!! you guys got to know that Si Hui is having exams this year - O levels and Wan Chin is one of the shyest girls i've met.. But they're all exploding with talent and creativity! More importantly, they're exploding with love... It's like a fuzzball of love... OVERFLOWING! Si Hui uses her free time when she's not studying to design these cards.. Wan Chin just keeps on drawing... They're doing all these just to love the CG! Then there's Ying Xuan and Cheong Jing, who are both so amazing! They're around in church, always reliable... Ying Xuan is here for every single thing - CGs, services (sometimes 2 services!!), weekdays... It feels like she's been in church for years already!! Cheong Jing also... They only came during Red Rain, but it feels like forever and they've certainly have a unique place in d8! :) Then there's Cavin, Julius & Deng Yao, our dear army guys.. still so on fire and radical even when they're serving the nation on weekdays! Julius is still loving all his people and on top of all his people work, calling into huddles.. always looking fresh and full of energy as if there's no army! Deng Yao and his nonsense... If you're wondering why he's so quiet last Sunday, it's because there's a FISH BONE (?!!) stuck in his throat!! haha only such things will happen to Deng Yao! The atmosphere was less exciting without his nonsense! Haha then there's Cavin, who's calling the WHOLE CG during weekdays, and like the GLUE, keeping everyone connected and ensuring no one's left out.. You guys are amazing! GMSS people - Li Jun, Jen, Wess, Joseph, Si Hui, Chiu Wen, Janson... You guys are so gonna reach out to your school! Joseph, you promised me 5 yea? :) there's 7 of you now.. 20 in your school soon!! On top of all these people, this week, D8 is having a "love yvonne week".. many people have just been going down to surprise her and love her.. tomorrow's surprise is exciting but i can't say, just in case she reads this post before they do it!! Hahhs! Well, this cg has many other pple too.. Too many to mention!! I believe you guys will explode to 50 people soon! :)
Then there's Janelle from D60, who has one of the most childlike faith i've ever seen! i think more people should be like her! She would travel all the way down from her school to church just to hang out here and "breathe the air" even if it's just for 1 hour.. Mind you, she's in PJC! Not like a school round the corner and she's taking A levels this year! But she simply loves being around in church! Reminds me of all of us when we were younger.. we would just come to church to smell the air... :)
There's STILL more!! Sidney... Always around in church.. Only in church for less than 6 months, but he's already everywhere in church! permanent feature.. Good looking too (minus the pimples! HAHAHA) Augustine... Always faithful.. Anabel & Clara... Love their simplicity too! Smart, Talented but also loving God wholeheartedly! I wanna build a generation like that! The tireless leaders... I salute u guys.. Always living a life of others..
Then there's Shi Hao, with his classic comment today! "If megan fox is a guy, who wouldn't mind turning gay??" HAHAHAHAHA
Well, if you think only D Evens is happening, there's G Zone too! We broke through 100 last week! WOo! and G2 had 6 new friends - WOW! Louisa has just been growing and encountering God... From someone who first stepped in and asked Peck "What's the agenda for today?" to someone who's just so faithfilled... reaching out to her friends, changing lives.. Amazing! A true testimony that God is real! (on a side note, Christine said that Louisa looks amazing in a dress!! HAHHS!!) Can you believe that Joyce Chua saw this old lady one day, carrying lots of stuff and had difficulty carrying them... She was in a cab.. She actually STOPPED the cab, got out of it.. helped the lady and sent her home! She doesn't even know the lady and she was in a cab... Certainly, a life of loving others! AND! We're gonna have a PRETTY IN PINK party this weekend! :) Theme's BIMBO NIGHT! Everyone's gonna be in PINK & Silver! Gonna be at joyce chua's house! I believe it's gonna be exciting!! haha i'm actually quite excited about it! I believe it's gonna crazy fun for all the girls, but more than that, one of those everlasting memories as we all grow up and grow old together! :):)
So many more amazing people... Thoughts are all over the place!! hahhs Just typing this post makes me inspired to grow and expand... A multiplication... Exponential growth!! More people!! :) DEvens 120; G2 CEG 25!

I just came back from field study for my attachment..
Went to the MRT in hopes of finding someone who could help me with the survey..
And i spotted a helpless "victim" standing all alone, occasionally glancing over the railing...
As i approached him, little did i know that he wasn't as helpless as i thought!
He burst into a string of anecdotes, 'words of wisdom' etc... rambling on and on WHILE! asking me to help him write the survey as he couldn't really see clearly.. but man, could he talk!
After conversing with him, i can't help but noticed that he has lost his idealism in his life! He's close to his 50s, and he told me he used to think like me but after he entered his 30s, his thinking changed... I spoke about how I didn't think i want lots of money in future... and he answered that's what i thought in the past.. but as you grow older, you'll remember this talk we had at this MRT.. and we'll see if you can say the same thing! Then he went on to criticize the government, when I said i trust our government etc..
Oh Well, i'm determined to remain the same. Despite whatever that happens, I want to forever keep my idealism and whatever I"m feeling now! YES!!
Zone G shall be like that too! Working and growing old will not cause them to lose their idealism.. more importantly, it will not change their convictions about God and His house!
